The Multimedia Classroom

Multimedia classrooms accommodate a variety of technological needs to enhance teaching. Equipment in the classrooms includes a computer and projection system, VCR, Visual Presenter, Audio System and connections to support the use of laptop computers.

Computers and Software

Computers installed in multimedia classrooms are IBM compatible systems running Windows XP Pro. The software found on these computers includes a standard set of applications and Internet software:

Instructors may arrange for installation of additional, properly licensed software on classroom computers.

High-speed Access

Computers have connections to MUN Net II, the high-speed campus Ethernet network, so you can:

Quickly access data on the campus network and the Internet (you need an account for access). Get course notes and presentations via your website. View interesting web sites for your course via the internet.

Distance Education, Learning and Teaching Support (DELTS) provides tutorials for all teaching personnel who use, or wish to use the multimedia classrooms of the south campus. These tutorials can be delivered individually or to a group and as well as tailored to meet special needs. The tutorials focus on how to use the equipment in the multimedia classrooms as well as best practices for using this technology to enhance teaching and learning.
