Presidents Award For Distinguished Teaching
A primary function of the university is the creation and dissemination of knowledge through the education of its students and through scholarly research. To advance the first of these goals, Memorial University, in conjunction with the Alumni Association, established the President's Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1989. The Award, up to two of which may be presented in any year, recognizes excellence in teaching over an extended period of years. It honours faculty members who, through their creative approaches and sustained commitment to teaching, have generated intellectual excitement and fostered the development of students' skills and interest in their disciplines. It also honours educational scholarship and leadership.
