Ceremony of Remembrance 2011

The university was founded in 1925 as a living memorial to those who fought in the first and second world wars. Each year, a Ceremony of Remembrance is held in association with Remembrance Day.

The university's public orator and professor emeritus, Shane O'Dea, will be the master of ceremonies. Dr. Kevin Major, a Memorial University honorary graduate and author, will read from his novel No Man's Land. Memorial President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gary Kachanoski will bring remarks on behalf of the university.

Various university-affiliated organizations will lay wreaths during the ceremony.
