Students will study the historical, sociological, legal and economic foundations of educational finance. It is an introductory course designed to enable students to analyse contemporary literature on school finance and to be able to debate current issues in a knowledgeable manner. Analysis and criticism of various methods and techniques applied to school finance in various Canadian provinces will also be reviewed. Special emphasis will be placed on education funding in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
