Technology and the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics

Format: World Wide Web

This course will cover a range of ways in which technology can be used in the teaching of mathematics, and the implications that emerging technologies have for the teaching of mathematics. Prerequisite(s):Must meet admission requirements to a graduate program in education.

Technical Requirements: To successfully participate in this course, you will need:

  • a computer with Internet access, Windows operating system and Java applets support,
  • a graphing calculator.

NOTE: Access to a Windows Operating System is required to take this course. If you have a Macintosh computer, there are programs available which will allow you to load Windows onto your MAC. These programs are:
  • Bootcamp (Note: you need to be running or purchase the Leopard operating system to use Bootcamp),
  • Fusion(Note: you can run Windows Vista with the new version),
  • Parallels (Note: Windows Vista is not supported).
